Join GRAM Chief Curator, Ron Platt for an exciting road trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts where you can explore their newest exhibition, Dance! American Art 1830 – 1960. This multimedia exhibition features more than 90 of America’s most spectacular works of art alongside cinematic representations that explain and celebrate dance as central to American life and culture. The exhibition brings together some of the greatest 19th century American artists including John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, and Mary Cassatt, and spotlights the superstars of the Harlem Renaissance including Aaron Douglas, William Johnson, and James Van Der Zee, and features artists who shaped the aesthetics of modern dance including Isamu Noguchi, Jasper Johns, and Andy Warhol.
